2021 Karma GS-6 Series Arrives As The New Revero GT

Reveal / 9 Comments

The Revero name is being retired (for now).

The Fisker Karma is still alive and well only now it's called the 2021 Karma GS-6 Series. Karma Automotive has just unveiled the updated and renamed 2021 model, which is comprised of three trims: the base GS-6, the more luxurious mid-range GS-6L, and the sportier GS-6S. All three retain the same design as the Revero GT and differ only in packaging. The Revero name is being retired for now.

The GS-6 now begins at $85,700, including the $1,800 destination charge and before any state and federal tax credits. Previously, the Revero GT began at nearly $147,000. Later this year, the all-electric GSe-6 will debut with a starting price of $79,900 and $100 deposits are now being taken. An all-new crossover is also coming. But today the focus is on the more affordable GS-6 Series, an extended-range electric vehicle, or EREV.

The familiar plug-in hybrid powertrain (not the previously announced hydrogen tech) consists of an on-board generator used to create electricity to power the rear wheels' electric motors. A small 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine acts as the range extender by charging the 28-kWh battery pack when the battery's juice runs out for a total extended range of 360 miles. It can go up to 80 miles on pure electricity. Total output is 536 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque. A three-mode regenerative braking system is also standard.

Both the GS-6 and GS-6L feature 21-inch Cascade Silver wheels and the GS-6S rides on 22-inch chrome wheels housing Brembo brakes. A total of ten exterior colors are offered, two of which are new for 2021: Saguaro Green and Imperial Copper.

The interior is another familiar sight with the 12.3-inch high-res display and an optional head-up display. There's also reclaimed wood salvaged from the devastating California wildfires. Over-the-air updates and a unique Karma owners' app for things like vehicle location, remote preconditioning, and charge scheduling are also part of the package. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone compatibility are standard across the line.

Safety is another top priority with several driver-assist systems included at no extra charge, such as lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and a blind-spot monitor.

Pricing for the GS-6L and GS-6S has not been announced though we speculate they'll cross the six-figure mark. Sales for the 2021 Karma GS-6 should begin shortly.
