As the first of three new EVs planned in Chrysler's transition to full electrification, the Chrysler Airflow will revive the name of a 90-year-old model from the automaker's history books when it arrives in late 2024 as a 2025 model. Built on a new Stellantis electric vehicle architecture, the Airflow is a low-riding crossover with seating for four and a futuristic interior that boasts interconnected screens for all occupants, a camera per seat for video conference calls, and AI integration.
On the technical front, a dual-motor electric powertrain delivers 400 horsepower, while a newly developed 118-kWh battery pack gives the Airflow 350-400 miles of range on a charge. Level 3 autonomous driving and over-the-air updates are part of the package that will attempt to take on luxury automakers like BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
The Airflow will fit into a new slot within the Chrysler lineup, likely rivaling the Mercedes EQE SUV. Styling will deviate little from the Airflow Concept shown at CES 2022, which appears to be almost entirely production-ready. Pricing remains a mystery, but with the current trend of EVs becoming remarkably more affordable, a $40,000 starting point seems reasonable.
