Another bespoke creation from Mulliner is coming this month.
Bentley recently took the covers off a car that its customers asked for, namely the Flying Spur S. This car is essentially a Flying Spur with many of the chassis and handling enhancements of the W12 Speed, making it the ideal choice for the keen driver who needs more space. But some customers want even more, specifically in the design and luxury departments. Mulliner is in charge of Bentley's bespoke builds and, "after the incredible success of the Bacalar and Blower Continuation Series projects," the division is preparing something special for the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month. Any guesses what it might be?
So what do we know about the new project so far? Not much: "The next Mulliner adventure will again combine exceptional design, engineering, and handcraftsmanship in world-leading ways to create a new family of highly exclusive Bentleys." That gives us no hints as to which model is getting the Mulliner treatment, but given the industry's obsession with SUVs, would it be a stretch to imagine that Bentley is building a bespoke Bentayga? Not just yet, it seems. One phrase in the teaser material lets us know that it will be a "new Continental GT Mulliner," but we'll have to wait until 1 PM local time on Friday 24 June to see exactly what Bentley Chairman and CEO Adrian Hallmark will unveil.
Even if Mulliner miraculously makes a mess of its latest addition, there will be plenty of brilliant Bentleys to take in. The public debut of Bentley's S range of models will take place alongside "a celebration of 40 years of turbocharged Bentleys." Best of all, the famous hill climb will welcome the Bentley Blower Continuation Series Car Zero that we spoke of at the outset.
Now that we've covered everything we know so far, allow us to fantasize for a moment. We always thought the Bacalar was gorgeous and we wondered if Bentley would make a coupe version. Maybe this is it. Fingers crossed.
