At the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show, Mary Barra confirmed that the replacement of the current Chevrolet Blazer would be an EV arriving for the 2024 model year. Based on the GM Ultium Platform, the new Blazer will be a compact crossover arriving in the spring of 2023. Further details remain a mystery, but it will face off against the Ford Mustang Mach-E and is expected to be priced competitively from $35,000 in base form.
While this price undercuts the Mach-E by a large margin, it falls in line with GM's predicted prices as battery tech and modular platforms advance and makes EV technology more affordable for the masses. Expect a range of single- and dual-motor outputs with an RS performance version to follow. Using the modular powertrain concept previewed in 2021, a dual-motor model could potentially have up to 580 horsepower. We'll learn more about the Blazer EV over the next year.
