Buying A Used Honda Online Just Got A Lot Easier

Industry News / 1 Comment

Honda is changing how we buy used cars online.

Automakers are working to make shopping for used cars online easier for younger buyers. Audi recently announced a new flexible leasing service called reLease allowing customers to lease used models for as little as six months, while Ford's new Blue Advantage service is launching next year to make it easier to find certified used Ford cars.

To entice younger buyers looking for an older, more affordable used car, Honda is now listing non-certified used cars on its upgraded HondaCertified website. This makes Honda the first mass-market automaker to sell non-certified used cars on an official manufacturer website, allowing users to search dealer inventories for used models up to ten years old.

This new service will make it easier for buyers to find their first Honda Civic or Fit, which are popular models for young first-time car buyers. Each non-certified used car will have less than 100,000 miles on the clock and used Acura models will also be added to the Honda Certified website. Certified pre-owned Hondas, on the other hand, must be less than five years old, have covered less than 80,000 miles, and undergo an extensive mechanical and visual inspection.

"With the continued rise in new-vehicle prices, the first vehicle purchase for many buyers will come from the used-car market, and our upgraded website makes this process more simple and enjoyable," said Dan Rodriguez, manager of auto remarketing at American Honda.

"As a leading brand among first-time and younger buyers, expanding our branded website to include used vehicles up to ten years old offers customers more high-value options with quality Honda products and their local Honda dealer standing behind their purchase."

For added peace of mind, non-certified models listed by Honda online will have any outstanding recalls addressed by Honda dealer service experts prior to the sale. Over the next few months, Honda plans to add new features to continually improve its new used-car buying service.
