The Elise is the last word in the benefits of weight saving, a car that is truly worthy of wearing the badge of the company founded by Colin Chapman. It is a fairly bare-bones machine, with very little on it that you don’t need. It would make for an appalling grocery-getter, but on a track it handles beautifully, and it makes twisty mountain roads a joy. With such a simple, small and lightweight construction, you feel so much more connected to the experience of driving than you do in almost anything else. It doesn’t have much straight-line speed, but it handles better than many much more expensive cars.
