Based on the Kia Concept EV9, Kia's next production EV will take the form of an electric SUV dubbed the EV9. Positioned alongside the Telluride and BMW's electric iX7 as a similarly-sized SUV, the EV9 will share underpinnings with the Hyundai Ioniq 7. That means it will inherit the Hyundai Group's Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) already in use on the Kia EV6. Exact powertrain specifications have not yet been revealed, but expect dual-motor systems to provide all-wheel drive, power outputs of up to 570 horsepower in upper trims, and a driving range of up to 300 miles. A 350-kW onboard charging system will enable 10%-80% battery replenishment in under half an hour.

The Kia EV9 will usher in a new era of digital design for the brand, with the SUV likely to employ the concept's digital Tiger Face facade. Don't expect the EV9 to stray too far from the concept's dimensions at 195 inches long, 81 inches wide, and 70 inches tall, with a wheelbase of 122 inches.

We expect a production reveal to happen late in 2022, with the EV9 arriving as a 2024 model soon thereafter.
