As part of Toyota's recent 30-model electric vehicle plan before 2030, the manufacturer teased an SUV concept that looks, for all intents and purposes, like an electric FJ Cruiser. The Compact Cruiser EV, as it's currently named, is a rugged, off-road-capable SUV with loads of plastic cladding and an aluminum skid plate that harks back to the FJ Cruiser from the late 2000s. A short wheelbase will make it ideal for rock crawling and tackling rougher terrain.
While there are no official details available just yet, an off-roader like this would do well with standard AWD and a dual-electric motor setup with outputs upwards of 200 hp. In a vehicle of this size, that's plenty of power to make off-roading an adventure. The Compact Cruiser EV rivals the likes of the Ford Bronco Sport, but it's unlikely to make an appearance any time soon, though we are hopeful for a 2023 launch.
