Buy Used Genesis Models

There has been a steady increase in the range of new Genesis SUVs in the USA, with the Korean automaker launching its mid-size GV80 as a 2021 model to compete with rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5. The second 2021 Genesis SUV to arrive in the US will be the GV70 luxury compact crossover, due this summer and set to compete with the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. With brand-new and strikingly styled models available in arguably the most important two SUV classes, Genesis is ready to take on the class leaders. It’s already off to a good start, with the brand having earned the J.D. Power award for the most dependable automotive manufacturer in North America in 2020.

New Genesis SUV Models

As a new brand that has only been selling vehicles for a couple of years, Genesis started out with a range of sedans before branching out into SUVs. The G80 and G90 luxury sedans were launched in the US in 2016 and the G70 in 2018. While 2020 saw no Genesis SUVs delivered, the GV80 did debut as a 2021 model. It is currently the only SUV in the lineup but will be joined by the 2022 GV70.

The GV70 and GV80 Genesis SUV models will be the brand’s main players in their respective market segments:

  • GV70: The automaker’s first luxury compact crossover will cross swords with the GLC, X3, and Q5, from Mercedes, BMW, and Audi, respectively. It is expected that this vehicle will have a starting price in the region of $40,000. Unfortunately, there will be no alternatives to the gasoline-powered model at launch, such as what the competition offers, but an all-electric GV70 should become available at a later date. The lack of hybrids might cost it some sales in the meantime.
  • GV80: Already available for sale as a new model and also only offered in gas derivatives, and this Genesis SUV will cost between $49k and $66k. It is a mid-size luxury SUV with an optional third row that turns it into a 7-seater and it is built on a bespoke platform that isn’t shared with any other Hyundai/Kia models. The top-trim V6 delivers 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft, allowing it to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 6.4 seconds, according to testers.

Future Genesis SUV Launches

Electrified models will follow in Genesis’ future SUV models, notably the GV60 and GV70e. Genesis has not said whether it will hybridize any of its existing gas-powered SUVs in the meantime.

2021 Genesis SUV Current Pricing

The only Genesis SUV with a price in 2020/2021 is the GV80, even though it is considered a 2021 model. The cost of a GV70 will only be announced in the summer.
