Certified Pre-Owned vehicles are an ideal way of buying affordable, but Honda's making it even better.
Purchasing a car in today's climate can be a very intimidating experience, especially with the added frustration of the supply chain crisis resulting in an unfavorable increase in prices across the new and used markets. The stock of both new and used cars is also becoming a hassle for consumers and dealerships alike, but Honda and Acura's latest announcement may alleviate the pressure on its consumers.
Effective immediately, the Japanese duo will be extending their certified used-vehicles program out to cars that are up to 10-years old. So, if you were looking to step into an FG4 Honda Civic Coupe or the rather controversial CR-Z with the brand's stamp of approval, your time has finally come.
What's the big deal about Honda extending the age of its certified cars anyways? If you want to benefit from the best aftersales service, this announcement is a notable step forward as it will include a 100-day/5,000-mile limited warranty, complimentary oil change, up to 12 months or 12,000 miles of emergency roadside assistance, trip-interruption expense reimbursement, and concierge services, and a complimentary three-month trial of SiriusXM and three-day/300-mile exchange policy on all cars sold through the HondaTrue Used program.
The Acura Precision Used service is a slightly more comprehensive offering with a six-month/7,500 mile limited warranty and everything else that is provided by Honda's service. Unfortunately, those desirable but costly Integra Type R or immaculate Honda S2000 models are just going to be too old for this deal.
All used cars placed on Honda's and Acura's floors will be given a comprehensive 112-point inspection to ensure that they are of sellable quality. A copy of this will be provided to whoever purchases the car. Acura in particular notes that this is a logical move for the company because it has noted that its pre-owned sales have seen a noticeable uptake, with it setting a new record in 2021 and becoming America's number two used car sales brand.
Dan Rodriguez, Manager of Auto Remarketing at American Honda recognizes that the new car market is becoming a bit chaotic and backs this announcement from the brand. "Higher new vehicle prices make Acura Precision Used and Acura Precision Certified vehicles an even more critical gateway to luxury vehicle ownership for younger customers," he says. "We are building on the success of the award-winning Acura CPO program as well as the incredible client service and product knowledge of our Acura dealers."
