If you’re looking for a Honda hybrid in 2020, you’ll have the choice between a few sedans and one impressive crossover. Unfortunately, no hatches, coupes, or minivans are included in the lineup.

These electric-assisted machines are cost-effective in terms of price and they’re practical. But, are they as popular as their gas-fed counterparts? Not exactly. The average American will still opt for the likes of a Honda Fit or an HR-V, simply because they’re more familiar and they cost less.

Characteristics of Honda Hybrids

Each trim on the list of Honda’s hybrid cars will share some similarities, regardless of price point:

• Engines - Most put out some pretty decent power figures, but there are no sport-focused options available. The Japanese automaker still leaves that in the hands of autos such as the Civic Si.
• Fuel economy - These kinds of autos have an advantage over other variants like the Pilot and the Odyssey because they offer much better gas mileage. This is even more true for Honda’s plug-in hybrids that boast the choice of electric-only driving. Their total ranges aren’t as noteworthy as certain rivals, though.
• Interiors - A ‘function over form’ attitude prevails in the cabins of these autos, with evidence of discounted materials being rather obvious. Still, the tech is easy to use and there are plenty of features to balance it out.

Honda Hybrid Models

There are a few Honda hybrid models for sale, and each one is designed to attract different customers:

• Insight - The most affordable entry into the lineup, the Insight has a high number of features. It has some nimble handling and a decent 151.5-horsepower motor, making it the better way to go when compared to the Toyota Prius.
• Accord - Based on the successful gas-fed sedan, the Accord is a new product that is worth having a look at. It has an impressive interior but the 212-hp engine certainly wasn’t built to smash 0-60 mph records. Still, it performs well in the city.
• CR-V - A direct challenger for the wildly popular RAV4 hybrid, the crossover has a comfortable ride and is enjoyable to drive. It is fairly utilitarian, making it the best for those with small families to think about. It is also one of the first Hondas to offer AWD.
• Clarity - As the most expensive spec in the range, the Clarity has to work pretty hard to steal the gazes of budget-focused shoppers. Luckily, the plug-in hybrid car has an excellent suite of safety tech and a 17-kWh battery that allows for 47 miles of electric-only range. The all-electric version was discontinued recently, similar CR-Z in 2016. But a Fuel Cell version is available.

What to Consider Before Buying a Honda Hybrid Plug-In

While Honda’s hybrid vehicles for 2020 are great in many aspects, there are a few downsides to note as well:
