Meet The Emilia GT Veloce: A 540-HP Reborn Alfa Romeo Giulia

Classic Cars / 8 Comments

The German-made missile is a modern Italian resto-mod to obsess over.

The modern resto-mod movement sure sees no signs of slowing down for reviving cars manufactured from different eras. Singer might be the best-known in this field but the modernized classic car hits just keep on coming, this time with the striking Emilia GT Veloce. Based on a classic Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Coupe, this German-made resto-mod will deliver 540 horsepower and is completely new underneath the sheet metal in its incredible build process.

Only 1-2 per month will be produced and the cost is a wallet-busting €400,000 (approximately $429,000 USD at current exchange rates) and that's without factoring in any modifications to the build. We don't have to tell our readers what kind of supercars they can buy for that money but we're sure you will in the comments.

Okay, pause, breathe and let's dive into what buyers can expect from this incredible-looking 1970 Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Coupe reimagined as the Emilia GT Veloce. Like most resto-mods, the Emilia GT is thoroughly modernized. This is more intricate than a modern crate engine swap and some fancy paint, it involved installing advanced electronics like those in current Alfas.

Every Emilia GT is fitted with modern touches like an extensive infotainment and navigation system. Modern air-conditioning is controlled with classic style knobs to evoke an old-school feeling that actually, y'know, works. All cars are fitted with park distance controls, backup cameras, and extra luxuries like central locking, heated electric mirrors along with electric trunk release, and even an electric parking brake.

The chassis is completely revised and mated to a space frame with an integrated roll bar. The underbody has undergone a complete nut and bolt restoration with revisions to bless the 1963-debuted chassis with supernatural abilities. The exterior skin of the car has obviously been widened to accommodate all the massive new rubber and neoclassic Alfa-inspired phone dial alloys. The hood has been flared to hide the wipers and the bulges revised to flow with the 'Scalino' or step-nose. The overall length of the car has also increased by 50 mm (two inches) to accommodate the twin intercoolers up front. Wait, what powers the Emilia GT anyway?

Propelling the Emilia GT is a true-to-the-brand modern Alfa Romeo engine. The V6 twin-turbo mill from the current Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has been tweaked to produce 540 hp. Big power for a tiny car that weighs just under 2,800 lbs dry. With an impressive power-to-weight ratio, all suspension, braking, arms, and bushings are substantially re-engineered to meet the new power gains.

Built completely to paint, fabric, and infotainment specs, Emilia GT Veloce deliveries will start in the second half of 2023. That will give you plenty of time to save up or maybe cross-shop with your favorite Italian supercar...perhaps two of them?
