We see a red Jeep and want it painted black.
Here's a weird factoid. Jeep is obviously a very off-road brand, right? You'd think the majority of their sales go to places like Colorado, California, Wyoming, Utah, etc. Those places all feature some of the world's best off-road trails and national forests found in the good ol' US of A. Nope. Jim Morrison, Jeep's senior VP says that New York is actually the "largest consumer market for Jeep SUV owners."
According to Jeep, that's why it makes sense to debut this at the New York Auto Show: the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe High Altitude. The very same High Altitude package found on the Jeep Wrangler 4xe Hybrid is now available for Jeep's hybrid SUV.
Jeep says the High Altitude pack is a "blacked-out appearance package for Summit 4xe and Summit Reserve 4xe models." In order to get the pack, you'll need to have one of those two trim levels for the Grand Cherokee 4xe. The package, which can be had with the new Hydro Blue paint you see here, blacks out just about everything on the Cherokee 4xe. A quick note on the paint: it can also be had on Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve trims for both two and three-row examples of Jeep's electric SUV.
The black 21-inch wheels are perhaps the most obvious change on the High Altitude pack, with more subtle differences higher up on the body. Jeep also blacks out the 4xe's otherwise blue badging, as well as the roof rails and grille. You'll also note the removal of the recovery hooks on the nose of the car, which are now filled in with yet more black grille. Those are absent on both Summit trim levels and are exclusive to Trailhawk and Overland trims.
As far as pricing goes, the High Altitude pack won't alter the pricing of Summit and Summit Reserve models by a whole lot. On Summit models, it'll run you $1,495 with the Summit Reserve High Altitude Pack costing slightly less at $995. As for that Hydro Blue paint, it's $395 regardless of trim.
The Grand Cherokee Summit starts at $69,820 before the High Altitude Pack, with the Reserve starting at $74,695. While both the Hydro Blue paint and the High Altitude pack are already available on Jeep's site, those wishing to add the High Altitude Pack will have to wait until the second half of 2022.
