Used Lamborghini models are about as rare in America as used Ferraris, and it’s no wonder, considering that in 2019 - the first full year with the Urus SUV on sale - Lamborghini still sold only 8,205 vehicles. The famous story of Ferruccio Lamborghini creating his own sports cars from scratch after having been dissatisfied with Ferraris he owned is the stuff of legends - and the reason why Lamborghini exists at all. Lamborghinis are rare and expensive and if you’ve been shopping around and you’re looking to buy a Lamborghini near you on the second-hand market, you’ll soon discover they are never cheap. In fact, the cheapest Lamborghinis from the 2000s don’t dip all that much below $100,000 because of the rarity of the cars and the low number of available Lamborghini used cars to buy at any given moment. Classic old Lamborghini models are often worth much more, as they become more collectible with age. Finding a cheap Lamborghini second-hand is out of the question unless something is seriously wrong with the vehicle.
The internet is a great place to shop for a vehicle and you can buy Lamborghini cars online as well. Of course, in the end, you still have to go view the vehicle, but unlike the multitude of second-hand crossovers and sedans with patchy histories, used Lamborghini cars are usually well looked after and a dealer-serviced and Lamborghini-approved used model should be a low-risk purchase. To find a Lamborghini near you might not be very easy due to their rarity and since they’re not seen on street corners with ‘for sale’ signs in the window - the internet is the best way to find one near you. Start with CarBuzz’s used-car search page, where you can select your model and set a search radius to see what’s nearby. You can also read our exhaustive Lamborghini reviews on new and recent models to get up to speed on all the specs and stats, and to see our BuzzScore ratings of each.
It goes without saying that a Lamborghini should have a vehicle history and should only have ever been touched by a qualified technician at a Lamborghini dealership. Anything less will compromise reliability and the car’s future value. There aren’t official reliability ratings for low-volume sports cars, but you can check the NHTSA website for recall information on your model, pertaining to all models sold in the USA. Make sure all recall work has been performed. As always, certain models will have certain problems, but as long as all the recall work has been done and the service history is flawless, such a low-mileage supercar can be quite reliable. There were recalls on 2015 and 2016 Aventadors, though, for the engine stalling, loose bolts causing wheels to detach, and fuel leaks. The fuel leaks and stalling also affected 2012 models. The 2002 Murcielago had problems with the installation of the steering wheel joint and steering-column coupler. The 2006 Gallardo was recalled for suspension and steering problems.
