LEAKED: This Is The New BMW M2's Rear End

Over the past few months, BMW has revealed a number of new products and teased more to come. Although most of these vehicles share the common trait of being endowed with designs that will polarize the public, BMW's design boss recently explained that there is not one design language for the entire range, which is why the new 7 Series looks decidedly different than a 5 Series, for example. Among BMW's smaller, sportier models, things are different too. We know that the new M2 won't have the long grilles of the M4, and based on spy shots, we suspected that the rear will only change slightly compared to the regular 2 Series. That has now been confirmed thanks to a leaked image of the G87 M2.

As expected, the 2023 BMW M2 will have bumpers that are much more chiseled and square in shape than the M240i. In addition, you can just about make out the quad-exit exhaust that is a hallmark of modern M cars. Upright reflectors in fake vent recesses are complemented by tinted taillights while muscular arches, wider wheels and tires, and a small M2 badge complete the obvious changes. We already know that the new M2 will be getting carbon fiber seats as an option, but the options for the exterior will be just as attention-grabbing. BMW has started to tease these options, but we already know more than we should.

Thanks to our sharp photographers, we know that the M Performance parts available for the G87 will extend far beyond special wheels and a wing for the trunk. Rather than making the oddly stacked M Performance exhaust layout an option to be confined to the M3 and M4, the M2 will also be getting the choice of a wacky layout that will draw even more attention. Nevertheless, we should see the finished product revealed very soon. The M3 Touring will be unveiled later this month at Goodwood, following on from the reveal of the M4 CSL a month earlier. If things continue in the same vein, we will see the G87 M2 revealed in July.
