Low-Mileage 911 Turbo Is An Ultra-Violet Luxury Delight

Zuffenhausen knocked it out of the park with the latest iteration of the Porsche 911 Turbo. Widely considered to be the finest sports car in the world, the 640-horsepower missile is perfectly happy to serve as a daily driver but, at the drop of a hat, it can easily bite chunks out of supercars costing twice as much - few cars display these dual personalities so fluently.

Still, when Porsche aficionados speak of Turbo models, it's often the 993 generation that is most fondly remembered. The last air-cooled Turbo is arguably one of the prettiest 911 models to come out of Stuttgart, especially when it wears a flattering shade of paint like the example seen here.

This special-order violet hue is exquisite and suits the 993's voluptuous curves perfectly. In fact, it wouldn't look out of place at Porsche's recent Rare Shades event, a celebration of unique and exclusive paint finishes. According to Bonhams, the auction house that has the pleasure of selling this beauty, the vehicle was originally delivered with matching wheels.

They've since been replaced with traditional Turbo "Twist" wheels, finished in a more conservative silver hue. Nestled behind the five-spoke design are the red-painted brake calipers, which lend the modern classic a hint of sportiness. Aside from the paint, the original owner of this 993 Turbo spared no expense when applying optional extras.

The purple Porsche was supplied new to Saudi Arabia with a factory-fitted sunroof and stainless steel exhaust pipes, with even more unique touches to be found in the cabin. Usually, a 911 Turbo's interior is dominated by black leather and aluminum/carbon fiber inlays. However, this example's former keeper went for a more luxurious ambiance.

Open the door and you'll find a refreshing old-world mix of wood and leather. The owner spared no expense; the Light Rootwood timber comes from Porsche's Exclusive Department and is joined by other bespoke touches such as a leather-trimmed instrument binnacle (with painted dials), a custom gear lever (with the last owner's initials, presumably) and even leather-upholstered sun visors.

Some delightful retro touches can be found in the cabin; our favorites include the Becker Grand Prix cassette player (with removable face) and the oh-so-90s cassette storage sited behind the handbrake. Despite the decadent outward appearance, this is no lazy cruiser. The 3.6-liter flat-six produces a mighty 402 hp, with power sent to the wheels via the slick-shifting six-speed transmission.

There's still plenty of life left in this highly collectible car (only 5,978 examples were ever made) and with a recorded 26,151 kilometers (16,249 miles), it's barely run in. Despite the flawless paintwork and well-kept interior, Bonhams notes the Porsche will require some recommissioning before it hits the road; it has been in storage for quite some time.

Estimated to sell for between CHF70,000 - CHF110,000 (approximately $72,300-$113,700), we reckon it's quite a bargain for a uniquely specified 993 Turbo - especially when you consider that someone paid $405,993 for Denzel Washington's admittedly pristine example.
