Mitsubishi takes another step forward in a successful year.
Mitsubishi today is a long way off from the company that brought us the legendary Lancer Evolution. However, it's never too late for a resurgence. That seems to be exactly what's happening at Mitsubishi this year as sales have dramatically increased, primarily thanks to the latest Outlander. The stylish Outlander PHEV was revealed in October and should further contribute to the brand's current upward trajectory. But Mitsubishi is expanding in other areas too. The company has just announced the grand opening of a new dealership in Virginia ahead of a significant milestone in the US.
The new dealership, Fairway Mitsubishi, is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and is owned by longtime residents in the area. They are Tom Joynt, Sr. and his son, Tommy Joynt, Jr. The Joynt family is thrilled with the opening of the 8,500-square-foot facility as its new-from-the-ground-up construction took place amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Developing this brand-new facility with my son Tommy is the realization of a dream for me," said Joynt, Sr. "Building a dealership from the ground up during Covid posed many challenges, but we fought through them, and today, we are proud to have created new job opportunities and to introduce Mitsubishi Motors, a brand known for its bold style and great value, to the Virginia Beach community."
On December 8, Mitsubishi Motors will celebrate 40 years of doing business in the US. Over that period, the marque brought us some fantastic vehicles like the Starion and the 3000GT. While Mitsubishi doesn't have any sporty cars in its lineup at the moment, that could change with the continued success of its SUVs and an expanding dealership network like the new one in Virginia Beach.
Fairway Mitsubishi continues the brand's Visual Identity program. First introduced in 2019, it focuses on a high-quality retail environment with a black, grey, and red color palette and an inviting retail space. Hopefully, we'll see a modern interpretation of the Lancer Evo or 3000GT parked on the showroom floor of Fairway Mitsubishi someday.
