2023 Land Rover New Range Rover Hybrid Overview

Luxury, off-road capability, and eco-friendliness seldom go hand in hand, but with an all-new Land Rover Range Rover Hybrid on the way for 2023, that's exactly what you'll be getting. Based on the new Range Rover already in showrooms, the Range Rover Hybrid will seek to establish its dominance against rivals like the BMW X5 Hybrid and Volvo XC90 Recharge. Solely available as a five-seat luxury SUV, the new Range Rover Hybrid blends luxury and capability but comes with a six-figure price tag that may be hard to swallow.

When is the Land Rover New Range Rover Hybrid Coming out?

While the new Range Rover has already landed, the plug-in hybrid variant is taking a little while longer in coming out. Order books are open, however, and the Land Rover Range Rover Hybrid has a release date of spring 2022 as a 2023 model.

What’s the Price of the Land Rover New Range Rover Hybrid?

Prepare yourself, this one is a bitter pill to swallow. The price of the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Hybrid starts at $104,900 excluding options and a $1,350 destination fee. Lessening the blow somewhat is up to $6,295 in federal tax credit. However, this does not affect the MSRP as it is not available at the time of purchase.

New Range Rover Hybrid Exterior and Colors

An exercise in minimalism, the exterior of the Land Rover Range Rover Hybrid is a sleek design masterpiece with fish door handles, hidden taillights, and clean LED light clusters front and rear. A set of 21-inch wheels come standard, as does a body-colored roof, blacked-out roof pillars, a power panoramic sunroof, privacy glass, and Nickel Atlas exterior finishes. The latter can be swapped out for black when equipping a $1,000 Shadow Exterior Pack.

The exterior color palette is broad. Available colors for the Land Rover Range Rover Hybrid include no-cost Fuji White, Santorini Black, Eiger Grey, Portofino Blue, Lantau Bronze, Hakuba Silver, and Belgravia Green, while 25 paint options will cost you extra depending on the finish. These include $1,950 for Carpathian Grey and a few others, but you can pay up to $12,050 for the satin-finish Icy White. More affordable satin options include Velocity Blue and British Racing Green at $7,450 a pop.

Dimensions

The new Land Rover Range Rover Hybrid SUV is a hulking behemoth of an SUV. Tipping the scales at 5,940 lbs is no surprise when you consider it's 198.9 inches long, rides on a 118-inch wheelbase (the short wheelbase offering), is 87 inches wide including the side mirrors, and stands 73.6 inches tall. With 8.2 inches of ground clearance as standard and up to 11.2 in off-road mode, it's capable off the beaten track, too. This is supported by its best off-road approach/departure/breakover specs of 24/22.3/17.1 degrees.

New Range Rover Hybrid Engine and Performance

What it lacks in affordability, it makes up for in advanced powertrain engineering. A 3.0-liter inline-six engine in the Land Rover Range Rover Hybrid feeds on gasoline producing 434 horsepower and 405.7 lb-ft of torque with the assistance of a 105-kW electric motor. Only an automatic transmission and selectable 4WD system will suffice for this application, yielding 0-60 mph runs of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph. In electric mode, it's capable of an 87-mph top speed. It's practical too, capable of towing 5,511 lbs.

Gas Mileage/Range, Charging, Battery Life

A sizable 38.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack assists the Range Rover Hybrid in deploying its power. The usable capacity of 31.8 kWh affords a claimed 62 miles electric range on the WLTP cycle, expected to be 48 miles in the USA on EPA certification. The battery is equipped with 50kW DC rapid charging functionality and can recoup up to 80% of its charge in under an hour.

Final EPA certification is still pending, but the 2023 Range Rover Hybrid is expected to fare better than the outgoing model which managed 42 MPGe combined. The 18.89-gallon gas tank should contribute to a fair range between refills.

New Range Rover Hybrid Interior and Cargo

Riding on the short wheelbase, the Land Rover Range Rover PHEV's luxurious interior seats only five in its cabin. But it's an opulent affair with leather adorning every surface, 20-way power-adjustable front seats with heating, heated, reclinable rear seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and a ton of screen real estate. The main infotainment comprises a 13.1-inch touchscreen operating Pivi Pro with full wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. An interactive driver display goes hand in hand with this, as does a Meridian sound system. The 39.3 inches of headroom and 39.9/40.4 inches of legroom front/rear are more than enough.

As far as cargo space goes, the Range Rover PHEV has 41 cubic feet behind the second-row seats, swelling to 83.5 cubes when the rear seats are folded. The Land Rover Range Rover Hybrid's trunk space is matched by ample interior storage including large storage bins and multiple cupholders.
