There is currently only one type of Porsche electric car, although it is available in various configurations: the Taycan. It is presented in a range of sporty coupes and wagons offering different levels of performance. This German automaker is known for its phenomenal performance qualities and engaging drive and handling dynamics. There’s a Porsche icon in just about every sphere of the automotive industry, whether it be in professional racing or in the mainstream market. The popular brand is relatively new to the EV sphere, however. This is despite the fact that the very first car it ever created, the Porsche P1, was an electric vehicle.

Porsche started off in the EV realm with a bang, having successfully carried over the drive characteristics and raw feel of its more traditional gasoline engine-powered cars. There are several sport coupes, sedans, and wagons in the Porsche all-electric car range, with some also coming in various performance and drivetrain guises. Oddly enough, there is no classic 2-door coupe, but the automaker has teased one for future release.

The base trim comes equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor and a 79.2 kWh battery pack that creates 321 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. The top-of-the-line trim, the 4S, features a second motor and is tuned to deliver 429 hp and 472 lb-ft. There is a Performance Battery Plus upgrade for both trims that increase outputs even further.
  • Taycan Cross Turismo: Apart from a sport wagon body shape, AWD specs, and raised ground clearance, it also boasts a little more cabin room and cargo space. An Off-Road Design package is also available. which adorns the wagon with more rugged body cladding and lifts its chassis even higher. Unlike the sedan, all variants of the Cross Turismo are equipped with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drivetrain setup that propels them from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds (3.9 seconds for the 4S).
  • Taycan Turbo: The Turbo-badged version of the Porsche all-electric Taycan is the ultimate personification of the brand's commitment to fun and engaging performance. Outputs range from 616 hp and 626 lb-ft in the base trim to a hypercar-rivaling 750 hp and 774 lb-ft in the S version with the overboost function engaged. Put the go-pedal to the floor and the latter model will launch from 0-60 mph in a mere 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 161 mph. Alongside that phenomenal performance, the Taycan Turbo also offers a modern cabin sprawling with creature comforts and conveniences.
  • Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo: Scheduled to debut in the US sometime in 2021, the Turbo Cross Turismo will bring all of the driving characteristics expected from a Porsche in sport wagon form. The top-tier Turbo S version produces up to 750 hp and 774 lb-ft in overboost, which is enough to catapult it to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds. Despite a clear focus on acceleration performance and on-road handling, the wagon also comes with a Gravel driving mode for dealing with loose terrain.
