Ferrari was never going to let its close Italian rival, Lamborghini, have things to itself in the high-performance super SUV segment. The Purosangue is the answer from the house of the prancing horse and will, without a doubt, offer scary power outputs and razor-sharp on-road dynamics when it arrives somewhere in 2022.

It remains to be seen what Ferrari will put under the hood but considering that the Lamborghini Urus puts out 641 horsepower, we’d expect a similar power output from the Purosangue. All-wheel-drive is a likely setup for an ultra-powerful SUV which will make use of the brand’s scalable front-mid-engined architecture - this layout is flexible enough to accommodate V6, V8, or V12 engines, with or without hybrid assistance.

Previous reports also indicate that the Purosangue will be a four-seater stretching to around 16 feet. The SUV could feature a height-adjustable suspension. Mild off-roading should be possible but expect the Purosangue to prioritize on-road speed and comfort. Along with the upcoming Aston Martin DBX, the Ferrari Purosangue enters a growing niche of SUVs with exorbitant price tags (expect to pay well over $300,000 for the Purosangue) and supercar pace.
