Rare Shades Porsche Event Is A Paint-To-Sample Color Spectacle

Design / 3 Comments

A rare collection of Porsche Exclusive hues all gathered in one place.

We hear marketing buzzwords used to describe custom efforts from the factory such as Individual or MSO but the exclusivity afforded by Porsche's er, Exclusive program delivers on promises to be just that. While many legendary factory colors like say, BMW M5 Imola Red or Lamborghini Murcielago Verde Ithaca are often sought after, Porsche does wonders in this area today. We all have that favorite color and the Porsche Exclusive program produces some incredibly rare and unique color schemes to satisfy buyers' dreams. And recently in Canada, the team that puts together the 000 Magazine Porsche publication rounded up a bunch of examples for their Rare Shades spectacle.

At the sixth installment of the show, Rare Shades 6 drew out the Porsche Paint-To-Sample (PTS) heavy-hitters like vibrant 911 GT3s but minus all the tackiness of the Porsche Taycan art car.

These are certainly all rare shades indeed being customer-ordered PTS cars from Porsche Exclusive. Rare Shades 6 wasn't just the colors of the rainbow but every single car brought with it a rarity and when drawn all together, were quite a sight to behold.

Thankfully, none of the team here at CarBuzz is colorblind and we can experience all of the incredible hues that seemed at home in the natural settings of the venue located in Toronto, Ontario. Held at the stunning Aga Khan Museum complex with its surrounding plant life, waterfalls, and reflection pools, the Porsches on hand all appear to been have placed by an art director for an upscale shoot of press release photos.

In attendance was Scarfone Photography to capture these moments and also as an exhibitor of a PTS green 911 GT3. Naturally 'Pesto GT3' was ordered to be a shade with no equal in its Forest Green Metallic PTS hue. Primarily a collection of 911s in many different trims, there were a number of Caymans on hand in all kinds of off-trend colors to stand out from the greyscale masses of Canada's largest metropolis.

Also on hand at the event was Boris Aspenbrick, Head of Vehicles at Porsche Exclusive in Germany who has seen nearly every Exclusive car roll out of the factory doors over the last ten years. A cool addition to the display was a color-matched baby 911 GT3 pedal toy painted in the same PTS green Big Daddy was. The child's pedal-power Porsche was a spectacle that attracted a load of attention all by itself.

Porsche legend, Bill MacEachern had his 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo on display in basic black. Being not so rare a color, why was MacEachern's car even there? Because his 930 has over 1.3-million kilometers (807K miles) on it, that's close to eight times the high-mileage Porsche 959 we unearthed.
