Toyota and its luxury arm, Lexus, have been slow to introduce fully electric models. That will soon change when the Toyota bZ4X arrives crossover arrives. Now, Lexus has teased the more luxurious and premium sibling to the bZ4X. Called the RZ, it shares the e-TNGA platform with the bZ4X.

While the two vehicles may share many components under the skin, the Lexus RZ boasts a totally different look with the brand's contentious spindle grille and a taillight strip that runs across the entire width of the body. The roofline is distinctly coupe-like, which may reduce practicality but adds to the RZ's aesthetic appeal. At this point, the RZ's design has only been teased, so we'll have to wait a little longer to see all the details.

Lexus shared no technical details about the RZ but the bZ4X's specifications give us some idea of what to expect. In all-wheel-drive guise, the Toyota's dual electric motors produce up to 215 horsepower. A front-wheel-drive model is claimed to achieve a 250-mile range on a full charge from its 71.4 kWh battery.

We expect the RZ to be priced above the bZ4X, so expect to pay around $45,000 for the base version of the Lexus. The RZ will tackle the likes of the Audi Q4 e-tron when it goes on sale, presumably in the second half of next year as a 2023 model.
