When it was first brought out, the S40 was big directional change for Volvo. It had styling that didn’t remind you of a brick, and it was fun to drive. Currently in its second generation, the S40 is getting a bit long in the tooth. It is somewhat underpowered when compared to the competition, and the styling is starting to look dated. But it is still a fun car, and not only is it well-equipped, but Volvo has been sure to keep up with the competition in the electronics department. Also attractive is the S40’s low price when compared to the competition.
