Say Hello To The Most Insane Lamborghini Huracan Ever

Reveal / Comments

The Huracan GT3 EVO2 is a track-only monster.

Wealthy buyers who want a fast Lamborghini are spoilt for choice right now. The Italian automaker just revealed the 2023 Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica, a softer, more street-focused version of the Huracan STO with the same fire-spitting V10 producing 631 horsepower. Lamborghini has now gone in the opposite direction, revealing the track-only Huracan GT3 EVO2 for GT3 class racing. This is the third-generation of Huracan GT3 EVO, now with more advanced aerodynamics, a new engine intake system, and improved safety.

Like the street car, the Huracan GT3 EVO2 uses a 5.2-liter V10 engine, though it sends power to the rear wheels only. In the road-going version, this engine spits out 640 hp.

"The new Huracan GT3 EVO2 is not simply an evolution of the current car. It's a new project that reinforces the technological transfer between Lamborghini's motorsport division and the company and inherits two difficult tasks: to prove as successful as the previous generations of Huracan GT3, which have won more than 40 international titles in six seasons, and to match its commercial success by helping to reach the target of 500 Huracan racing cars since 2015."

Though it looks similarly outrageous like the outgoing Huracan GT3 EVO, this new car receives in-depth changes to comply with FIA 2022 technical regulations. These changes include a new hexagonal air scoop and rear fin, which are derived from Huracan STO street car. That air scoop funnels are to a snorkel instead of side air intakes, channeling the airflow directly into the engine and providing greater responsiveness.

Under the skin, Lamborghini introduced clever innovations such as 10 electronically actuated throttle bodies and titanium valves to improve efficiency. And learning from the Essenza SCV12 project, the engine is now connected by just four screws, making it easier for teams to perform maintenance.

The GT3 EVO2 should be quicker than the EVO thanks to new splitters, diffuser, and underbody creating better aerodynamics around the track. Further improving the aero is a new wing at the back, which is mounted on aluminum alloy pillars (inspired by the STO) with greater adjustability. Even the brakes are improved with new calipers and pads designed by Squadra Corse.

Lamborghini will deliver the car to customers starting in the second half of 2022 with a track debut slated for the 2023 Daytona 24 Hours. Customers who own the outgoing Huracan GT3 EVO can update their car to GT3 EVO2 specifications via an evolution kit.
