Polestar's Taycan fighter is ready to meet the public this month.
Swedish electric car brand Polestar has become among the most interesting automakers to watch recently. Polestar will show off its first SUV, the Polestar 3, in October, which should instantly become the company's best seller. After that it will reveal the smaller Polestar 4 SUV, then finally a sleek Porsche Taycan rival called the Polestar 5. Based on the teasers and design concepts, we are most excited to see the Polestar 5, since it will likely act as the brand's halo car after the 1 went out of production.
Polestar continues to slowly trickle out information about the car, but we haven't received anything substantial regarding the powertrain. Though it won't give us the full picture, Polestar will provide an opportunity to see a Polestar 5 prototype in action at the Goodwood Hillclimb on June 23.
"Goodwood is our favorite place to show our cars in an enthusiast environment," says Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath. "This year, we are thrilled to showcase Polestar 5 going up the hill! Our UK R&D team is doing an amazing job developing the car, and we are proud to be able to highlight their hard work at this early stage."
Polestar says the prototype will conduct several runs up the hill, meaning there may be opportunities for media like us to experience it from the passenger seat. When it's done driving, the car will be displayed at the First Glance Paddock alongside the Polestar Precept, the concept car that evolved into the Polestar 5.
Aside from the overall shape, it's hard to glean much from this prototype since it's so heavily camouflaged. Even the lights look completely different. Judging by leaked patent images, the Polestar 5's design will be close to the original Precept, which is good news in our eyes.
At the paddock, attendees can get a look at the new Polestar 2 BST edition 270, a limited edition version of the Polestar 2. Also on display will be the Polestar O2 electric roadster concept, which we hope goes into production as the Polestar 6.
Along with the Goodwood announcement, Polestar released a new episode in its YouTube documentary series, 'Precept: From Concept to Car.' This latest video reveals how Polestar is creating the production car's innovative interior. It gives a better idea of what we can expect inside the Polestar 5, including colors and materials borrowed from the Precept concept.
