Production of the most advanced air-cooled Porsche ever is limited to just 75 examples.
Singer hasn't been having a great time lately as Porsche wasn't happy seeing its branding appear on the 911 All-Terrain Competition Study off-roader. But now Singer has a reason to celebrate because the first customer example of the stunning Porsche 911 Dynamics & Lightweighting Study (DLS) has been completed, nearly three years after the reimagined 964-generation Porsche 911 debuted at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Singer's founder and executive chairman, Rob Dickinson, took the first customer car for a spin, and to say he was extremely happy with the result is an understatement.
"What a fantastic experience! The towering team of talented heroes we managed to assemble for the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study has produced an astonishing result - the car is simply extraordinary," said Dickinson. "I am so happy for our commissioning clients - we will be repaying their immense patience and trust with a truly remarkable machine."
Built in collaboration with a long list of technical partners including Williams Advanced Engineering, Bosch, Michelin, Brembo, Hewland, and BBS Motorsports, the first customer example of Singer's Porsche 911 DLS is based on a 1989 Porsche 911. It's finished in a stunning Oak Green shade. Hans Mezger, who developed Porsche's first flat-six unit, was also a technical consultant for the project. The body is made entirely from carbon fiber, bringing the curb weight down to just 2,182 pounds.
Power is sourced from a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing 500 horsepower that revs all the way up to 9,000 rpm, and if it's anything the like the donor car it came from, it will sound absolutely sublime. New Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes provide improved stopping power. Production of the Singer Porsche 911 DLS is limited to just 75 examples, each costing $1.8 million.
Singer is applying the finishing touches to more customer 911 DLS cars, which will be delivered to their new owners in the next few months. Despite events being closed due to the pandemic, Singer has received a record number of orders over the last 12 months.
