SPIED: New Porsche 911 Losing Its Most Iconic Interior Feature

And it looks marvelous.

The Porsche 911 has continued to set new standards for what a sports car can be with the current 992 generation, but like everything else, it must evolve or die. To that end, Porsche's engineers have been hard at work refining the car for its upcoming facelift while also ensuring that the first hybrid 911 is exciting enough to shut up the naysayers. We've captured images of both the cabriolet and the coupe before, and our spy photographers have now snapped more pics of both variants, but the most interesting of these photos appear below, giving us our first good look at the updated cabin.

As expected, the cabin of the 992 Porsche 911 is getting a relatively mild update in most areas with the big news being the arrival of a full digital dash. Some will despise that there are no analog readouts or gauges anymore, but that's the way the world is going and the use of screens as driver cluster displays is certainly helping cut down on raw materials and other costs. In addition, the car will continue to provide some good touchpoints with the retention of physical buttons and rotary dials for the steering wheel along with more buttons and knobs in the center console.

As for the bodies of each of the prototypes, we're seeing not much more than we have in the past. One of the test mules took to the Nurburgring with a roll cage installed along with some large sensors attached to the wheels. As we've covered before, those strange corner lights on the front fascia are temporary. At the rear, the decision to go with dual exhaust tips situated close together does NOT indicate that the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six from the GT3 is returning to the regular 911 lineup. Sadly, that's all we know for sure, and we'll have to wait for the full reveal to know what those exhaust tips do signify. A reveal will likely take place towards the end of this year as a 2023 model.
