Tesla Fan Can't Believe How Bad His New Model Y Is

This was not the $65,000 experience they wanted.

There's no doubt that Tesla changed the automotive landscape forever. The Model S forced legacy manufacturers to play a never-ending game of catchup. And yet Tesla can't manage to shake the poor build quality image. It was fine initially, as all startups have teething issues, but it's been over a decade...

We've seen Tesla fans comment on here that the quality is much better, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Dylan Hong recently traded his 2021 Model Y for a new '22 Y, and the vehicle he received is just plain unacceptable.

Hong was planning on making a video about the delivery experience but ended up with a 12-minute video highlighting the brand-new car's flaws.

First off, the car was delivered dirty. That's not acceptable. The cheapest new car in the US is roughly $14,000, a significant chunk of money. The very least a dealership can do is ensure that it's delivered clean and ready to go.

Alas, that was the least of Hong's problems. Various interior parts aren't fitted properly. The glovebox was uneven, and there was a deep scratch on the white dashboard. There's also a high-pitched whining noise from the car's rear.

During the first month of ownership, the car returned to Tesla four times to fix problems Hong kept on finding.

"It just doesn't feel like a $65,000 experience when they deliver it to you," said Hong.

Even so, the Model Y remains a top-seller, and Tesla is posting sales figures the legacy manufacturers can only dream about.

Hong mentions a noticeable wind and road noise reduction in his newer car. Hong is also quick to point out that he's largely optimistic about Tesla as he's mostly had positive experiences with the brand and its products.

Still, the Tesla cult came after him, accusing him of not telling the truth. According to the unnamed accuser, Tesla's quality has improved, and Wong even states that he thought the same until his new Model Y arrived.

"With the delivery of my 2022 Tesla Model Y, it's been a rough ride. So far, the high-pitched whine is the worst and Tesla has not been able to address this concern. I'm sharing out my experience and hope to give an update on what resolutions I'm able to find," stated Wong on his YouTube channel.
