The 2023 Acura Integra Makes More Power Than You Think

Video / 16 Comments

Impressive for a stock car.

When news first came that the Acura Integra would be making a comeback, enthusiasts across the country sounded off with great excitement. But it was soon revealed that the all-new Integra would not be as performance-focused as the previous generation, or its sibling, the Honda Civic Type R. Nevertheless, its motorsports background has landed it back in the racing scene, with Acura entering an Integra in this year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The stock car is far from being a race car, and can't even be called sporty, but when the guys from AHC Garage threw one on a dyno to see how much power it makes, we clicked really, really fast.

Powering the 2023 Acura Integra is the same turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine as found in the frisky Honda Civic Si. This engine makes the same 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque in both cars. The standard CVT automatic can be swapped out for a manual trans mated to a helical limited-slip transmission. As we've seen numerous times in the past, manufacturers tend to underquote their power figures, especially in turbo cars.

In December last year, Hondata put a stock Civic Si on the dyno, where it made 22 more horses and 42 extra torques. That car had only 50 miles on the odometer, so the power figures could potentially be even more once the engine has been run in.

In the video, the 2023 Integra gets strapped to the dyno. This car is fitted with the six-speed manual transmission, which should suck less power from the overall numbers. With less than 50 miles on the odometer, this engine will definitely still be a bit tight. After the first run, we see figures of 183 hp and 198 lb-ft. Not bad for such a fresh car. Being so new, the ECU gives the guys a bit of trouble, but after some trickery, the second run shows 198 hp and 200 lb-ft. The quoted factory crank power was matched at the wheels, and with the Type S still on its way, we're sure to see even bigger numbers.
