The Nissan Navara-R Is Powered By A 1,000-HP GT-R Engine

While American buyers have as many as three Nissan pickups to choose from, our counterparts in the United Kingdom aren't so lucky. The local subsidiary of the Japanese automaker recently stopped selling the Navara in the UK, leaving commercial buyers with only vans to choose from. And that's a shame - the Navara is a good-looking and capable truck.

But unlike our Frontier which can be enhanced with Nismo parts (albeit a range of off-road upgrades), the Navara has never been a prime candidate for modification. Perhaps that explains why one owner decided to lend his Navara some more muscle, creating something shocking that nobody expected. The result is a 1,000-horsepower pickup truck that is powered by a V6. And not just any V6. It's the one from the Nissan GT-R, only now it has been bored out to 4.1 liters.

The menacing Navara belongs to Steve 'Baggsy' Biagioni, professional drifter and owner of SB Motorsport. The idea to create this menacing Navara came about when the coronavirus lockdown put a dampener on motorsport events. Now, two years on, the dream has come to fruition. A Syvecs control unit helps manage the output of those two Garrett turbochargers.

Remarkably, this build is road-legal and boasts custom suspension turrets for the GT-R subframes. The build has remained true to the original vision and retains the GT-R chassis and all-wheel-drive system. Plenty of work went into the Navara-R's transmission with New Zealand-based Dodson Motorsport called in to help, providing a specially developed dual-clutch gearbox that sends power to all four corners.

It's no straight line special, though. KW coilover suspension with an HLS 4 Hydraulic Lift-System gives the Navara-R real cornering capability, while RC6 & RC4 Alcon Specialist Brakes give it all the stopping power it needs.

Those dustbin lid-sized brakes live behind some slick-looking custom BBS 20-inch wheels that, together with the unique body kit and racing decals, give this truck some serious street cred. Sparco seats and a GT-R steering wheel give just enough of a hint of the performance if you've somehow managed to get inside without being alerted to the monstrous experience that awaits.

If you're lucky enough to be attending the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, there's a very good chance you may get to see this awe-inspiring creation in the metal. While it hasn't been confirmed as yet, Biagioni has hinted that it may make an appearance at the prestigious celebration of motoring.

It's certainly one of the most extreme pickup trucks we've seen in recent years and, while no performance figures have been provided, it's likely to be one of the quickest, too - assuming that it hasn't been set up for drifting as Baggsy is fond of doing.
