This is going to be the ultimate camping truck.
Despite some setbacks, the Rivian R1T Truck is on its way, and we simply cannot wait to get one of these all-electric machines in our hands. In the past few months, we've managed to share some leaked info regarding the R1T's cool new accessories, and we also got a look at its futuristic interior and Bronco-busting removable roof.
Rivian has now followed up with a video showcasing a new camp kitchen setup, and it looks perfect for those outdoorsy types who love to use compost toilets. The video was shared on Instagram by Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe and shows off a neat modular design.
The design is extracted from the pickup's gear tunnel, and consists of three modules, starting with an induction cooktop with enough space for two pots or pans and followed by a sink and finally a water reserve. A nifty hose that can be used to wash dishes and clean the area is also neatly tucked away in the setup.
Rivian doesn't expect you to bring your own utensils on the camping trip: it provides a 30-piece kitchen set, including pots, pans, a cutting board, a coffee pot, and your basic cutting and scooping utensils. Scaringe is particularly stoked about the titanium plates included in the package.
The gear tunnel measures 65-inches in length, and is 18.1-inches wide, and 20.3-inches in height, and also features an LED light, and 12V and 110V power outlets. This is a really cool concept, but Scaringe points out that the gear tunnel will be used for many more modular designs, such as portable workbenches (what about a DJ booth?). The R1T has already proven itself capable of conquering rough off-road trails, but can it become the outdoorsman's best friend? We think it stands a good chance with clever innovations like this in the pipeline.
