The Toyota Highlander has been a great car for us. We've had it for over 6 years and it is still going strong. We have driven it all over the country with no problems. It's comfortable, has enough room for our family (we have 2 young kids) and we love the way it drives. The gas mileage isn't great but we knew that when we bought it since it's a V6 engine, but I don't mind. It's been very reliable so far and we haven't had any major issues with it yet. The only thing that happened was when we first got our Highlander, there were some recalls on it so we had to take it in to get them fixed right away. Other than that, nothing has happened to our Highlander since we've had it.
I want to say that I like my new Highlander. I got it in January and have only driven it around town, but it has been good to drive. The seats are comfortable and easy to adjust; the interior is quiet and well-designed; the ride is smooth, and the look of the vehicle is very nice. I'm not sure how much of this experience can be attributed to smart engineering and how much is due to the fact that my particular car has only about 3,500 miles on it, but I've been very happy with it so far.
I have one Toyota Highlander. I am a Toyota guy and have always loved their vehicles. The Highlander is our fourth Toyota in the family. We have had Camrys, Corollas, and Siennas, and now the Highlander. I really like this vehicle because it is like driving around in a luxury sedan. The ride is very smooth, quiet, and comfortable. The interior is very nicely designed with lots of storage space (especially upper glove compartment). The seats are heated and cooled which is nice on long trips or just sitting around in the garage waiting for winter to end so we can use it again! The powertrain is amazing. It has plenty of power even when pulling my boat trailer up steep grades on the highway! It responds quickly when passing other vehicles and has plenty of torque to get up hills quickly if needed. It also has enough power to accelerate onto an interstate ramp going up a hill with little effort at all. Overall I would highly recommend this vehicle if you need something bigger than an SUV but not as big as a full-size SUV or minivan.
I bought my Highlander in June 2016. It's a Limited model, so it's loaded with features. The one thing that I was disappointed with was the interior noise level. It's not terrible, but it's not as quiet as I expected it to be. The car itself drives great, and the technology is very user-friendly. My favorite feature is the backup camera which shows you exactly where your car is backing up to, so there are no surprises when you're backing out of a garage or parking lot. It has plenty of power for climbing hills and interstate driving, but it does not have adequate power for passing other vehicles on the highway at highway speeds. You will have to downshift and get into high gear before you can pass someone who is going at a slower speed than you are.
