Buy Used Volvo Models

There are countless sport-utility vehicles for sale in the USA, with several brands offering a variety of nameplates and crossover types for the ever-popular classification. Though all are inherently well-rounded in nature, none quite match up to a Volvo SUV when it comes to comprehensive inclusion of advanced driver-assist technologies, crashworthiness ratings, and top-notch safety standards. Every Volvo SUV and crossover also boasts a sophisticated and recognizable aesthetic, as well as an upscale, ergonomic, and nicely outfitted interior. These are some of the best family runabouts money can buy.

Volvo SUV and Crossover Range

The Volvo SUV lineup is relatively straight-forward and each model consists of numerous trims to present prospective buyers with a variety of choice. There are also hybrid and all-electric types offered under each nameplate.

  • XC40: The XC40 is the brand’s only subcompact luxury cruiser and is underpinned by the company’s Compact Modular Architecture platform. A pair of small, turbocharged inline-four engines are favored in the XC40 lineup, dialed to produce either 187 or 248 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard-fit across the board and either a front- or all-wheel-drivetrain is available, depending on the trim. No matter the choice, a modern, comfortable, and high-grade interior is guaranteed. The Recharge version debuted in 2021 and is Volvo’s first pure-electric crossover. Its high-tech powertrain can muster up to 402 hp, paired with standard AWD.
  • XC60: Powered by a pair of slightly more potent 2.0-liter turbo-four motors (250 or 316 horsepower), this compact cruiser delivers relatively placid acceleration, but offers a fair amount of additional comfort and room for its passengers on the inside. The Recharge variant offers significantly more power, up to 415 hp, if you are willing to pay the price. The infotainment system is a standout feature in all of the Swedish automaker’s cars, with a nine-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen taking center stage, installed with a very intuitive interface and many connectivity and radio functions. This quality, among many others, makes this 5-seater SUV more than just a family runabout - it’s suave and modern, too.
  • XC90: Slotting into the luxury midsize segment, this cruiser utilizes a standard turbocharged four-pot with 250 hp, but offers even more oomph by adding a supercharger in the optional T6 powertrain, delivering 316 hp. At the upper-echelons, there’s the T8 Recharge hybrid, which is specced with a 400-hp electrified unit. The lounge on wheels has a third row of seating and is configurable as either a six- or 7-seater. With no larger sizes available, an 8-seater setup is not viable, as the dimensions in the 3rd-row are already rather confined. The cabin is, however, comfortable, commodious, and beautifully appointed with loads of creature comforts and conveniences for everybody to enjoy.
  • C40 Recharge: Although not yet on the market, the C40 is worth a mention as Volvo’s first designed-from-the-ground-up EV, and is tipped to hit the market in 2022. This crossover will share a platform with the XC40 but won’t look anything like it. Expect coupe-like styling and a brand new face. The C40 will be powered by twin electric motors, with a 78 kWh battery. While expected outputs are in the region of 400 hp, the manufacturer has estimated that the C40 will be able to go a full 210 miles on a single charge.
