This is spectacular.
Back in 2019, we caught wind of a new electric supercar in the works called the Drako GTE. Promising 1,200 horsepower and a ridiculous 6,491 lb-ft of torque (if you measure it in the crafty way that EV manufacturers do), it sounded like it would be a spectacular machine. Later the same year, we were spoiled with the reveal of the car and all agreed that although some styling elements look like they may have been borrowed from the Karma Revero, the GTE is certainly one of the prettiest new cars on sale. Now, our excitement for the electric supercar is only growing, thanks to a video of the car drifting on a frozen lake.
The GTE looks gorgeous sliding around on the ice, but then again, any car getting sideways is exciting to watch. What makes this more spectacular is the scenery. The artful cinematography and classical music don't hurt either. As the caption on the video proudly proclaims, the GTE's four individual motors allow each wheel to be powered independently, giving drivers the opportunity to perform tight donuts and reverse-entry drifts, although we doubt that such characteristics are meant to be showcased on a public road. Still, the car will be very entertaining to its buyers even if they're not too proficient at sliding.
According to Drako, the GTE is capable of a top speed of 206 mph while torque vectoring algorithms developed on the Nurburgring should make it a great machine around corners too. Enhancing those abilities are things like a four-way adjustable suspension setup from Ohlins, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and 20-inch Pilot Sport Cup2 tires from Michelin. Sadly, with only 25 units to be produced at a retail cost of $1.25 million, it's unlikely that buyers will ever use the GTE to its full potential. Hopefully, the manufacturer will release more video footage in time, so that we can get a better idea of its performance before all production models get tucked away as an investment.
