Watch The Ferrari SF90 Stradale Accelerate From 0-62 MPH In 2.1 Seconds

The McLaren 765LT has met its match.

Over the last few weeks, the McLaren 765LT has exceeded all our expectations. We've watched in awe as McLaren's 755-hp monster set an astonishingly fast quarter-mile time, unofficially setting a new production car record. In a head-to-head duel, it then made the 720S look like it was standing still.

It all made sense when the car was hooked up to a dyno, revealing that the 765LT is way more powerful than McLaren claims, developing around 855 horsepower at the crank. However, it looks like the 765LT has already met its match. Now that customer deliveries have started, Dragtimes managed to get behind the wheel of a Ferrari SF90 Stradale to find out what it can do.

Unfortunately, we don't get to see the SF90 Stradale dominate the drag strip, but the street test effectively demonstrates its performance prowess.

During an acceleration test on the streets of Puerto Rico, the SF90 Stradale rocketed from 0-62 mph in just 2.1 seconds and a set a fastest quarter-mile time of 9.62 seconds at 142 mph. If that wasn't already impressive enough, this was achieved with a full tank of gas. Unofficially, that makes the SF90 the quickest street car in the world. Remarkably, that's even faster than the McLaren 765LT, which completed the quarter-mile run in 9.88 seconds on the street and a best 0-62 mph time of 2.6 seconds in a previous test.

On a track with a prepared surface, less fuel and running on high-octane racing fuel, the SF90 would almost certainly be even faster. It will need to beat the McLaren 765LT, which recently set a time of 9.33 seconds at 150.87 mph on the drag strip. With less gas in the tank, the SF90 could cover the quarter mile in around 9.5 seconds on the streets so should be able to comfortably beat the McLaren on a proper drag strip.

The SF90's blistering performance isn't surprising when you look at the car's specifications. Power is supplied by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors producing a combined 986 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, enabling the hybrid supercar to reach a top speed of 217 mph.
