Ferrari Sets World Record For 75th Anniversary Celebration

If you were wondering why Ferrari is struggling to identify the cause of Charles Leclerc's engine problems, it's because the Italian manufacturer blew the budget on a light show.

To be fair, it was a fantastic light show, and Ferrari has much to celebrate in this, its 75th-anniversary year. An LED light show at Ferrari's Fiorano test track was part of the ongoing celebration in 2022.

To celebrate the occasion, Ferrari took a Daytona SP3 around the Fiorano track as more than a million LED lights celebrated its founder, Enzo Ferrari. The SP3 was the perfect car choice, as it was built to celebrate Ferrari's dominance at the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona, where it came first, second, and third.

The light show is quite impressive if you think about it. Apart from the moving strobe of light running parallel with the SP3, Ferrari had to ensure its SP3 drove at just the right pace. It's by far the most impressive celebration piece we've seen so far, and it set a new Guinness World Record in the process for the Largest LED-illuminated Racetrack. More than 55 miles worth of dynamic strings were used in the creation of the display with 1,039,280 LEDs covering 1,215,872.7 square feet of real estate.

Ferrari started celebrating in late December. Back then, Ferrari unveiled the logo dedicated to the milestone. It was a tribute to the people who make up Ferrari and based on a famous old quote from the old man himself.

"Factories are made of people, machines, and buildings. Ferrari, above all, is made of people," said Enzo Ferrari.

If you are a Prancing Horse fan and find yourself near Modena in the next couple of months, it's worth checking out the 75th Anniversary exhibition at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena. For the first time, Ferrari is allowing ordinary folks to look behind the curtains of Ferrari Classiche, the department in charge of protecting the brand's heritage.

We're not sure what the celebrations lead to, but Ferrari will likely save the best for last. We know the Purosangue will debut in 2022, but that's probably not it. If we had to guess, Ferrari will likely end the celebration with a stunning one-off creation like the SP48 Unica.
