Founded in the USA in 1902 as an offshoot of the Henry Ford Company, Cadillac is among the oldest automotive companies in the world. With so much history, the list of Cadillac cars is a long one. These all-American autos come in every size and shape, from everyday commuters all the way through to enormous luxury crossovers. For the most part, the price of a Cadillac car is pretty reasonable, though that is not to say that the brand does not have a few whoppers reserved for those with very deep pockets. Despite some very stiff competition, especially from across the pond, the best Cadillac autos remain popular, though not so much globally as in the US.

Types of Cadillacs

Any manufacturer worth its salt knows that diversity breeds success, so there are naturally various different types of Cadillacs to peruse. Of course, some configurations are better suited to the American market, especially the more practical utes and rugged pickups, but there is something for everyone in the Cadillac lineup.

• Sedan - The traditional three-box style has been around since the dawn of motor vehicles, and while it has waned in popularity over the years, many shoppers still see it as the entry point into driving. Several models fall under this heading, including the V-series, the once-proud luxury sedan range. True, you will still find a choice of V8 engines under the hood of these cruisers, but they lack refinement in comparison to European rivals.
• Coupe - This style has always been synonymous with performance and the sheer joy of driving. However, where almost all Cadillac models within this segment used to bear classical muscle car design cues, they have evolved with the times to be sleeker and not quite so rambunctious. They sometimes even seem slightly tame, since naturally aspirated V8 engines are no longer commonplace.
• SUV - One of the more recent configurations in automotive engineering, these high-riders are now among the most popular family haulers in the world. This is largely attributable to their spacious cabins, practical trunks, and usually soft riding.
• Truck - A definite must-have in the States, pickup trucks valued for their work ethic and reliability, not to mention their undeniable curb appeal. The newest offerings in this category are more than just heavy laborers, with many doubling up as family haulers or off-roaders.

New Cadillac Vehicles

While Caddies have been around for over a century, the current selection isn’t as broad as you might expect, with only a few brand-new Cadillac autos released every so often. Still, a few of the latest Cadillac models are definitely worth taking a closer look at, and, although there are no hybrid offerings at present, here are a few from the roster:

• CT4 - The entry point in the maker’s garage, it still sports a relatively imposing starting MSRP of around $32,000. For that cost, you get a turbocharged inline-four developing 273 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Alternatively, you could look at the more expensive CT4-V, which ups outputs to 325 hp and 380 lb-ft. The interior is stylish, but not opulent, and there is a decent list of standard specs.
• XT4 - The most compact of the crossovers comes outfitted with a modest 237-hp turbo-four and available AWD. It also presents buyers with a fair amount of passenger and cargo space for its size, but it can be costly, especially if you want more than the basic level of features. Fortunately, the factory-installed tech should be enough to satisfy most small families.
• Escalade - The most exclusive of the brand’s cars, the Escalade is the Cadillac with the highest cost, naturally. With prices in excess of $100k for the top trims, this land yacht touts itself as the best SUV available, and it could be right.
