As one of the many holdings of the American automaker General Motors, Buick functions as the luxury division, focusing solely on sport-utility vehicles and crossovers. The current Buick lineup is now a sparse selection of sub-compact and midsize cruisers targeted toward a more mature market within the USA. As a premium brand, the prices of Buick automobiles are slightly higher than that of regular GM products. Nevertheless, all Buick models deliver plenty of value for money with loads of creature comforts and conveniences thrown in with each new Buick as standard. Types of Buick Vehicles

The list of Buick cars is relatively short, with only three nameplates making up the entire 2021 gamut. GM saw fit to take on the strategy of restricting Buick models to just SUVs and crossovers, withdrawing every sedan and wagon of old. Similarly, there are no V8 engines to be found and a V6 is offered on only a single variant, with the rest favoring low-displacement turbocharged four-pots.

• Crossover: Here, there are two Buick cars that share the same name, the Encore and its sibling, the GX. Each Buick car boasts unique underpinnings and fundamentally different platforms; the former is a subcompact equipped with a 1.4-liter turbo-four engine and a six-speed automatic gearbox that power its front-wheel-drivetrain. An all-wheel-drivetrain is optional for the upper three trims. The GX is available with either a 1.2- or 1.3-liter turbo-four that is tethered to either a nine-speed auto gearbox or CVT. The latter cruiser is a little bigger and thus a little more commodious and practical, both otherwise share a similarly modern and featureful interior.
• SUV: If you’re searching for a premium, commodious, and well-rounded utility car, these Buick models are the ones to mull over. Within the selection, there is the familiar compact Envision, which gets a placid 2.5L four-cylinder motor, or the midsize Enclave, which comes geared up with a sturdier 3.6L V6. Though pricing for these Buick variants reaches into the high-end of the market, they still present oodles of value for the money. And while most high-end automakers tend to take on a focus on capability and quick 0-60 mph times, or extremely luxurious and feature-laden cabins, these new Buick cars are purposed purely for daily comfort and convenience.
• Sedan: While the regular Regal sedan was discontinued after the 2017 production year, the manufacturer will still offer the Sportback and GS variants until the end of 2020. The former’s reasonable price tag, comprehensive infotainment suite, and spacious cabin make it a good buy, although you’ll have to fork out quite a bit if you want to kit it out with advanced driver-assist features. The GS comes with a naturally-aspirated V6 that’s impressive, but it’s by no means an actual sports car. It handles well, though, and is attractively styled.
• Wagon: First introduced in 2018, the Regal TourX was Buick’s first new station wagon after more than two decades, and despite being handsome, offering a comfortable ride, spacious, well-designed cabin, and impressive cargo capacity, is also being pulled from the US market after 2020. Rugged black cladding on the underbody and wheel arches give some semblance of off-roading ability, but despite having an AWD setup, it’s not particularly capable off the beaten track.
