This means that gasoline-powered variants will only be around until the current lineup has been properly refreshed. Nevertheless, there are already a few alternative generators to choose from. • S60 - The smallest three-box in the garage, it is still more than big enough to earn the executive classification. The weakest powertrain develops 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft, while the top-spec plug-in option produces 400 hp and 472 lb-ft. Even the smaller commuter is outfitted with an array of features that are usually exclusive to top trims on rivals.
• XC90 - The most expensive vehicle from the brand, the sizable ute is presented as a standard gas-powered variant or a hybrid. The latter uses the same 400-hp T8 as the three-box. It returns great mileage figures for its size, and a spacious, opulently appointed cabin. Its safety ratings are without reproach, but the trunk is quite compact since three rows of seats eat up most of the space.
• V90 - Available as the standard nameplate or the Cross Country version, the wagon is equipped with a turbo or twin-turbo four-pot, developing between 250 and 316 hp. While this does not sound particularly powerful on paper, it is more than enough to deliver an engaging and enjoyable driving experience.
