BMW M3 Touring Comes In Some Shouty Colors

Design / 5 Comments

Too bad BMW chose a dull launch color.

After what felt like an eternity of teasers and ill-timed leaks, BMW finally revealed the first production M3 station wagon. Like the 2022 BMW M3 Sedan we get here in the US, the M3 Touring uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine producing 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. Sadly, BMW will not offer the Touring stateside, but that doesn't stop us from drooling over this German performance family hauler on the company's German website.

A full configurator is not available yet, but the site lets you visualize all of the available colors, many of which are far more exciting than the Brooklyn Grey launch color. In fact, our spy photographers captured the M3 Touring in Isle of Man Green, the launch color for the M3 Sedan. As you'd expect, it looks fabulous.

In addition to the aforementioned Brooklyn Grey and Isle of Man Green, the other available hues include: Alpine White, Sao Paulo Yellow, Sapphire Black, Sky Scraper Gray, Portimao Blue (and Individual Frozen Portimao Blue), Toronto Red, Brooklyn Grey, Individual Tanzanite Blue, Individual Dravit Grey, Aventurine Red, Individual Frozen Brilliant White, Individual Frozen Pure Grey, Individual Frozen Black, and Individual Frozen Orange. These are broadly similar to what's offered on the US M3 Sedan, with a few additions.

Every Touring gets a glossy black roof, not the carbon fiber roof available on the sedan. Buyers can select from two unique wheel designs, each offering two color options. We particularly like the Double-spoke style 825 M style in the light finish because it shows off the spoke pattern better than the black wheels.

The interior options are nearly identical to the sedan with 16 single-tone or two-tone leather combinations and five trims. Not counting the extended leather and two-tone options, the main color tones available include: Yas Marina Blue, Silverstone, Kyalami Orange, Black, Fiona Red, Tartufo, Ivory White, and Fjord Blue. The only noticeable difference we spotted from the US-spec car is the ability to get the Tartufo Brown color with the M Carbon Bucket Seats.

Overall, it's nice to see the usually somber Germans step out of their comfort zones and deliver an interesting palette that has as much personality as the car itself. Sadly, we'll never get to enjoy the sight of an Individual Frozen Orange M3 Touring on local roads.
